A Special Holiday Event With
Within six months after releasing their debut album, Icelandic band Árstíðir topped the charts in their home country. They have managed to win over many hearts on the mainland as well since then. Árstíðir’s music transcends genre boundaries, but is best described as classically influenced indie folk rock. Whether they are playing at a train station in Germany, a concert hall in Russia or at home in Reykjavík, their music never fails to mesmerize. Each of the band members has an impressive musical background and experience, combined with professional interests that vary from law to literature, and from architecture to computers. Árstíðir manages to blend organic, acoustic traditions and modern electronic arrangements with complicated simplicity and inimitable expertise.
In 2016 the band went on an impressive theater tour in our country with Anneke van Giersbergen; in 2017 an extensive European tour with Sólstafir and Myrkur followed suit. In 2018 their fourth album “Nivalis” came out, which earned them a prestigious Independent Music Award (IMA).
Next to numerous regular live shows and tours throughout the year, Árstíðir has also organized their very special, intimate Christmas shows in Reykjavík in December for years now where they mix their own compositions with traditional Icelandic folk songs. Last December the band brought these special shows to the rest of Europe for the very first time, which turned out to be a huge success, judging by sold out shows at for example Amsterdam (Paradiso) and Arnhem. That’s why they are coming back to the Netherlands for an encore of these special shows, including one at LUX, Nijmegen.
Note: this is a seated show with no fixed seating arrangements.
