Frankie and the Witch Fingers

Ever since bands like Oh Sees, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and Ty Segall have been getting more successful the garage rock scene have gained more and more traction. The genre is flourishing and still expanding and evolving up to this day, something demonstrated by the diversity and quality of the music. Frankie and the Witch Fingers is yet another gem in the ever-growing psychedelic garage rock scene.

These hard-working lads from Los Angeles have released four albums in only five years and have managed to avoid any of the genre’s usual pitfalls. On ‘Brain Telephone” from 2017 there’s a heavy mix of surf pop, 60’s psychedelia and punk. It’s with their most recent album “ZAM” from 2019 that the quartet has really started to cut loose. “ZAM” isn’t just funky and esoteric but also explosive in nature: this is a top quality blend of psychedelia, acid rock, fuzzy garage rock, and sixties surf.

Frankie and the Witch Fingers sounds as if the wicked four-headed nephew of The Sonics has discovered shrooms. Expect to be teleported from the sixties to today and back again!
