Jim White is a much-respected name in the contemporary alternative country and roots music scene. He was discovered in the late nineties by David Byrne and signed to his label Luaka Bop. White has been referred to as “The king of country noir”. He makes dream-like, dark songs that use elements from folk, country, Americana, bluegrass and pop in an intense manner.

He has collaborated with artists like Joe Henry, Bill Frisell and Aimee Mann in the past for his own albums. White’s songs are little stories that usually deal with the underbelly of the American South. It’s no coincidence that Jim White had a featuring role in the BBC documentary “Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus”. In this, he is followed on his tour through the Southern States, which has him meet peers like 16 Horsepower, The Handsome Family and Johnny Dowd, who all take inspiration of the culture of the South.
His most recent album was 2017’s “Waffle Triangles & Jesus”, but new work is on the way. He will play both old and new songs with his trio.
