Originating from the rough vistas of Iceland are the bare soundscapes of Kælan Mikla. The band formed five years ago after winning a poetry contest in the local library of Reykjavík. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2016, followed by their second album “Mánadans”. The trio mix avant-garde punk with meandering, dreamy darkwave in a poetic manner. The menacing basslines, mesmerizing drums and minimal synths are coupled with gloomy monologues in their native language. Live on stage this often turns into a true catharsis of pulsing vibes. Earlier they gave an impressive performance at Roadburn and Eurosonic. Now Nijmegen is the next to fall for their exciting shows.
