Lankum is a Dublin band that consists of brothers Ian and Daragh Lynch, Cormac MacDiarmada and Radie Peat. The first three albums and their engaging, almost euphoric live shows gained the band some serious traction world-wide. Their latest album “The Livelong Day” came out on the renowned Rough Trade label. This album offers a very successful mix of alternative folk and psychedelic rock. The band is very good at combining different styles to an eccentric and spooky sound.

Lankum uses not only guitar and violin, but also incorporates drone, concertina, squeeze box, accordion and Radie Peat’s remarkable voice. Through this the band manages to break new ground while still being firmly rooted in Irish folk music. The mission statement of “The Livelong Day” is to give new life to the musical history of Ireland. With this third album the band has staked their claim as one of the foremost Irish bands of the past decennium.
