The brand new darling of the Dublin folk scene is called Lankum. The young band combines subtle harmonies with surprising arrangements, using not only guitar and violin but also uilleann pipes, concertina, squeeze box and accordion. On their repertoire are both funny folk songs of the streets and classic ballads from the rich traveler tradition.
They are influenced by Frank Harte, Planxty, The Dubliners and The Watersons. In 2017 the band debuted at Rough Trade with “Between the Earth and Sky”. They will release a new album this year.
