Malford Milligan & The Southern Aces

With his powerful, hoarse voice and impressive charisma Malford Milligan is often compared to soul icons like Otis Redding and Al Green. Born as an albino in Taylor, Texas on 29 March 1959, racial tensions made a double impact on his youth. In 1981 he quit his Sociology Studies at the University to focus on music full-time. Milligan was hoping to pick up studying again a year later but things pushed him in a different direction.

During weekly jam sessions in music club Antone’s Milligan made quite an impression. He played with a number of bands, among which were Stevie Ray Vaughan’s Double Trouble, The Boneshakers and the band he founded himself, Texan all-star band Storyville. The music is intense, danceable and energetic. Malford Milligan and his backing band “The Southern Aces” offer a terrific way to spend your evening.

The band consists of Jack Hustinx (guitar), Roel Spanjers (piano, organ, accordion), Eric van Dijsseldonk (lead and slide guitar), Nicky Hustinx (drums) and Roelof Klijn (bass).
