Ministry + The Monolith Deathcult
We can easily call American band Ministry one of the godfathers of industrial metal. Seldom has there been a band that has been able to mix synths, samples, guitars and beats in such a destructive manner as this band.
The band, fronted by Al Jourgensen, has been delivering a number of terrific and genre-defining records since the late eighties, including “The Land of Rape and Honey” and “The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste”. These led to their breakthrough in 1992 with album “Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs” and hit single ‘Jesus Built My Hotrod’. With their combination of chainsaw guitars, thumping beats and misanthrope lyrics became part of the soundtrack of the nineties.
A number of memorable albums followed, although the band did go through some rough times during the zeroes, resulting in numerous line-up changes. None of this is going to stop Al Jourgensen however, as he’s angry, very very angry at the current state of the US. From sexual abuse and lack of respect to women, to a lack of respect to the constitution, fake news, and a lack of morals, ethics and personal accountability among the leaders of the US, most prominently the one currently in the White House. Jourgensen covers all of these themes on the latest album “AmeriKKKant”.
Ministry will be touring again in 2019 and they will perform at Doornroosje for an exclusive show on 23 June. Ding dang a dong bong bing bong!!
Note: only Dutch date on this tour!
