Legendary Swedish band Refused is coming to Nijmegen. Their iconic album “The Shape of Punk to Come” is an explosive and diverse masterpiece of rock, punk, noise and hardcore. This is a unique opportunity to see this innovative band live in an intimate club setting.
They have been in Doornroosje before, way back in 1996. They were touring an album that was quite impressive at the time: “Songs to Fan the Flames of Discontent”. It turned out to be the blueprint to one of the most influential new-school hardcore albums of all times, 1998’s “The Shape of Punk to Come”. This is a classic masterpiece that blends styles like rock, punk, metal, noise and hardcore into an explosive cocktail. Classic songs like ‘The Deathly Rhythm’, ‘The Shape of Punk to Come’ and of course the hit ‘New Noise’ have become true anthems. Despite its massive success, the band decided to call it quits soon after its release. Fortunately for us the bands made a comeback 15 years later, resulting in several new albums of which 2019’s “War Machine” is the latest. This album proves that Refused is still capable of composing cutting-edge songs that turn any crowd into a frenzy.
