SASAMI + Sovay
Sasami Ashworth has been around for a while on the music scene. She is known as an ‘all-round musical badass’; behind the screens she has been contributing to works of Curtis Harding, Hand Habits and Wild Nothing, to name a few. Next to being a music teacher she also composed music for films and commercials and produced a number albums. This busy bee finally decided to strike out on her own and using the name SASAMI she released her debut album in March through Domino Records. On this album there are numerous inventive and eccentric songs, including collaborations with Devendra Banhart and Soko.
The Los Angeles based multi-instrumentalist graduated from the Eastman School of Music in 2012 and was part of the band Cherry Glazerr for a while. SASAMI’s first self-released single ‘Callous’ quickly gained traction and weblog The Fader named her “rock’s next big thing”. Recommended to fans of Mitski, St. Vincent and Sunflower Bean.
