Sebadoh + Dearly Beloved

Sebadoh was founded by Dinosaur Jr. bassist Lou Barlow with drummer and songwriter Jason Loewenstein. With bands like Pavement and Guided By Voices they played a vital pioneering role in the rise of lo-fi and nineties rock music, styles characterized by minimal recording techniques and screeching guitars.

Lou Barlow and Jason Loewenstein both take turns on both vocal and writing duties. Sebadoh was and still is their favorite means of expressing frustration, love sickness, insecurity and other kinds of misery. In his writing, Barlow evokes images of a world in which basically every chair only has three legs to stand on. The songs of the band used to contrast sharply with the more polished sound that became the norm during the eighties. Sebadoh has a number of classic albums, including “Bakesale”, “Sebadoh III”, “The Freed Man” and “Bubble and Scrape”. Together with Bob D’Amico they are going to release a new album called “Act Surprised” through Domino Records.
