Tank and the Bangas

It’s going very well with Tank and the Bangas. The jazzy hiphop-soul-funk-gospel group won the NPR Music Tiny Desk Contest last year with a terrific video, while Tarriona ‘Tank’ Ball and her band were also a revelation at Lowlands and Pukkelpop.

Led by singer and slam poet Tank – with her hard-hitting raps and poems – the Bangas dare to head into a more experimental sound. This is a charismatic and hugely entertaining band with irresistable grooves, a refreshing unpredictability and a large dose of positive energy. The New Orleans group is skillfully able to switch between poetry, rap and singing one of the one hand but different styles like soul, funk, gospel, rhythm & blues and hip hip on the other.

Highly recommended to fans of Erykah Badu, Jamila Woods, Jill Scott, Vulfpeck, Noname, Anderson Paak, Lizzo.
