LUX and Doornroosje work together to present to you a very special evening that has The Black Heart Rebellion provide an Iranian-American vampire western with a live soundtrack.
The Belgian band The Black Heart Rebellion composed a new soundtrack for the film “A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night” from 2014. Just like the movie it is difficult to get a handle on the band’s music. It has evolved in recent years from heavy hardcore punk to a more adventurous sound that’s somewhere in between doom, post-rock, tribal beats and ambient. Next to the music the imagery, artwork and scenography are a major part of the impressive story.
The Iranian-American Ana Lily Amirpour managed to create a unique atmosphere with the poetic art-horror movie “A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night”, which has her combine spaghetti westerns, fifties bad boys and contemporary eccentricities to a timeless hipness. Her imagery are somewhere in the twilight zone in between nations (American locations, Iranian culture), centuries (late 19th and early 21st), languages (Persian dialogue, silent movie gesticulation) and genres. She describes her own movie as the Iranian love child of Sergio Leone and David Lynch, with Nosferatu as the babysitter.
Note: this is a seated show in LUX.
