Even though Slovakian instrumental post rock band The Ills was already founded way back in 2008 in between heavy PlayStation sessions, they have only been operating as a real band since a few years. The band managed to impress at festivals like Eurosonic and Iceland Airwaves. Their album “Ornamental or Mental” from 2016 is a collection of strong compositions in which songs are created layer by layer, taking cues from genres like post rock, shoegaze, prog rock and math rock. The technical skills and intense playing style of The Ills is best consumed live on stage. Recommended to fans of bands like Explosions in the Sky, This Will Destroy You, and And So I Watch You From Afar.
