The Queers
American punk rock band The Queers was founded in 1982 and have built up a cult status ever since. Almost 40 years and some line-up changes later, the band still manages to be a powerful force live in stage, using cheekiness, wit, and a heavy dose of punk noise. They’re just getting started, and Nijmegen is next!
The American band fronted by Joe Queer is well-known for lyrics that sound like they were written by an adolescent boy. Even for those unfamiliar with the band it is easy to conclude this based on the song titles. With a nineties punk sound that never gets boring, and titles like ‘Shit for Brains’, ‘See You Later Fuckface’ and ‘Young Dumb and Into Iron Maiden’, you just know that The Queers are a terrific band for a night of old-fashioned mischief. They released a new album last year, so expect to hear some new songs next to the old school punk classics. And rest assured, their new songs are just as politically incorrect as the old ones.
