Raketkanon + Tropical Fuck Storm
Tonight a double bill, a night with two bands touring together: Belgian band Raketkanon and the Australians of Tropical Fuck Storm.
Tropical Fuck Storm has already turned into a cult hit of epic proportions in their home country. Their debut album “A Laughing Death in Space” came out in October 2018. Gareth Liddiard and Fiona Kitschin of the Australian band The Drones decided it was high time for a dirtier means of expression and they succeeded gloriously.
Tropical Fuck Storm, or TFS, is highly recommended to fans of early work by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Bowie, but also of bands like Dinosaur Jr., IDLES, Parquet Courts, Protomartyr and of course The Drones. Their debut album came out through Joyful Noise and sounds intense, alienating, uncomfortable, heavy and, most importantly, truly one of a kind.
Raketkanon is the name of the noise orchestra of Pieter-Paul Devos and his friends. The band has been an absolute hit in every Belgian concert venue for years, with second album “RKTKN#2” as the ultimate expression of their live reputation. None other than Iggy Pop came out as a big fan during his radio show. It’s been three years since the album came out, and a song like ‘Florent’ is a true classic within the genre.
