The singer and only living band member of the legendary Zambian band W.I.T.C.H., Emanyeo ‘Jagari’ Chand, is coming to Merleyn with a very special band!
In order to play his psychedelic afro-rock, he gathered the following musicians: Jacco Gardner, Jay Whitfield, Patrick Mwondela, Nic Mauskovic and Stefan Lilov. This is the very first time that W.I.T.C.H. is coming to Europe in order to play their own repertoire!
W.I.T.C.H., short for We Intend To Cause Havoc, is one of the most popular afro-rock bands from the seventies. They combine influences from the Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Grand Funk Railroad and James Brown with traditional African rhythms and developed the new genre of ‘Zamrock’ that way. In 1973 they released their debut album, followed by a number of successors. In 2012 the band is back in the spotlights again when the Now Again label re-released all of their records. Jacco Gardner and front man Jagari met last year and played together for the first time. Now they join forces one stage! A documentary about the Zambian band in in the works.
