羊文学, also known as Hitsujibungaku, is an indie rock trio from Tokyo, Japan. They started in 2011 as a girl band that had some success playing covers. Since 2017, they have been concentrating on writing and performing their own music. The sound of Hitsujibungaku is a mix of alternative rock with powerful lyrics. Their music has also been used in popular animation series like Jujutsu Kaisen, The Heike Story and The House of the Lost on the Cape, which increased their popularity even more.
The focus on their own material turned out to be the right one. With the speed of a Shinkansen they sold out stadiums all over Asia. They also played rousing shows at important and large festivals, including Fuji Rock. They have also won two Japanese Grammy’s in the categories “Best Alternative Act” and “Best Alternative Song”, the latter for the single ‘More Than Words’.
In 2024, the band played in the United States for the very first time. 2025 is the year of their first shows in Europe. Nijmegen hosts the only Dutch show this tour, so you don’t want to miss it.
