In 1983, De Swing opened its doors. In 1983, Blue Monday by New Order was also released. The iconic track would become the anthem of De Swing for seventeen years. But why was that Monday so blue? Because it was the only day De Swing stayed closed, of course!
Subcultures like new wave, alternative, hip hop, R&B, and house came together at the Molenstraat nightclub as if the word polarization had yet to be invented. All the more special, then, that on January 3 the popular reunion party will, for the very first time, take place under the roof of its once fierce competitor, Doornroosje. For one night only, this proud temple will be taken over by the DJs, the staff, and Percy’s smile (if you behave).
Spread across three areas (80’s Alternative, This Is How We Do It, and The Best of 17 Years of De Swing), old times will come alive again and new wrinkles will fade away. Dance to everything between Blue Monday and Brown Sugar. Between Morrissey and Morissette. You are welcome at the reunion that even Oasis would secretly envy. De Swing at Doornroosje!
