POM sounds like cotton candy with chilli sauce: raw music that goes hand-in-hand with an up-beat, energetic atmosphere. The band from Amsterdam finds inspiration in pop, punk and garage rock, creating a sound of their own in the process, best described as Fuzz Pop.
With a background in the DIY scene and with a lot of stage experience, they bring a refreshing, personal perspective on pop music, seeking new forms and sounds. With their upcoming album, they are going into a new phase that shows that they keep challenging themselves. The new album feels like a belated coming-of-age: you would think everything would have settled by now, but you discover that you are still changing, doubting and having to face yourself in tricky situations. It is as if you used to have braces and thought that would be the end of it – only to end up with crooked teeth again.
This new record follows in the footsteps of their well-received debut album and recent EP “AAAAH!”. The album was produced by the band and mixed by Alex Farrar (known for his work with MJ Lenderman, Snail Mail, Wednesday, Suki Waterhouse). They have embraced new sounds, including drum computers and synths.
