Swapmeet

The band, consisting of Venus O’Brion (guitar, vocals), Joshua Doherty (bass), Maxwell Elphick (guitar, drums, vocals), and Jack Medlyn (guitar, drums, vocals), met in Adelaide in 2020. The then-teenage musicians began writing music and rehearsing that year. Four years later, in 2024, they debuted with the EP “Oxalis”.

Swapmeet’s music is a mix of slowcore and jangle pop that slowly expands towards shoegaze, grunge, and indie rock. In July, their new debut album “Mount Zero” will be released on the American Winspear label. The title is derived from the name of the mountain range that lies exactly between their home base of Adelaide and Melbourne. They recently won the Emerging Artist Award in Australia and were among the absolute crowd favorites at the prestigious SXSW festival in Austin and Sydney.
