Altin Gün means “golden day” and this much-praised band invigorates traditional Turkish folk music with a unique mix of psychedelic rock, deep funk, synth-pop and cosmic funk and soul. The result is an irresistible and mesmerizing sound.

Since their debut “On” (2018), Altin Gün has been making waves all over the glove. A year later, their second album “Gece” earned them a Grammy nomination for Best World Music album. The band, founded by bassist Jasper Verhulst, finds inspiration in retro-Anatolian records from the sixties and seventies, music that belies influences from bands like The Doors and Led Zeppelin. Live on stage, Altin Gün is a true sensation: from Coachella to Lowlands and Primavera Sound, they have managed to turn festivals and venues upside down with their performances.

In 2025, their new album “Garip” came out. “Garip” marks a return to the Anatolian folk rock from the seventies and acts as a tribute to the late, legendary composer Neşet Ertaş. Altin Gün once again chooses a heavy synth-pop production over live instruments and vintage hardware.

Each song on “Garip” is a reinterpretation of traditional Turkish folk songs, composed by Neşet Ertaş, presented from a perspective of psychedelic rock, funk and spaced-out groovy pop. Critics praise their mesmerizing, twisting textures, space-rock tendencies, prog-folk switch-us and danceable grooves.
