The Americans of Animals As Leaders are part of the absolute elite within the progressive metal scene. They are known for their impressive instrumental progressive metal with complex structures, a-rhythmic tempo changes, poly-rhythms and heavily distorted guitar chords.
The band was founded in 2007 by top guitarist Tosin Abasi. They have released five terrific albums so far, of which “Parrhesia” is the most recent one. On this third album as a trio, the prog metal band refined their interplay and found a perfect balance between technical precision and inner growth. It stimulates your brain to the fullest when listening to these complex, virtuoso cuts. At times it’s the heaviest album the band has ever made, and with his own Abasi Concepts Master Series Larada 8-string guitar, Abasi once again demonstrates why he is one of the foremost guitarists of our generation.
Live on stage, the band consists of guitarist Tosin Abasi, guitarist Javier Reyes and trop drummer Matt Garstka. Versatility and fun are clearly present in their presentation, which makes Animals As Leaders a must-see live band.
