Bert Dockx Band

On his previous album “Safe”, the overall sound mirrored the dark of the night; on new album “Ghosts”, it’s more like the sound of dusk. The album seems to be a music-based search for love and connection in a broken, yet wonderful world. The album was produced by Philip Weinrobe (who worked with Adrianne Lenker, Ceramic Dog, Deerhoof, Alanis Morissette), and he did an impressive job. Never before has Dockx’s voice sounded deeper and more powerful, and never before his guitar-playing more engaging. In his band, Bert Dockx is surrounded by top musicians like Loesje Maieu (vocals, accordion), Martha Maieu (vocals, synthesizer), Louis Evrard (drums, percussion) and Max Dobbertin (bass, synthesizer). The result is somewhere in between the pure emotion of his previous solo outings, the kaleidoscopic rock of Flying Horseman, and the tense instrumental sounds of Dans Dans.
