Bonnie “Prince” Billy
Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy is the alter ego of Will Oldham. With Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Oldham manages to touch listeners deeply with just his voice and guitar, although he also manages to impress as a duo. His lyrics are deep, ironic, witty and gloomy, but also full of heart of soul. Will Oldham is a welcome sight in Nijmegen, which is where he played his first Dutch show ever with his band Palace Brothers. For this show, Thomas Deakin will join him on stage.
On 31 January 2025, new album “The Purple Bird” will come out. The album was preceded by single ‘Our Home’ that also features Grammy Award winning mandolin player Tom O’Brien. This new record was recorded in Nashville with producer David ‘Ferg’ Ferguson. This is only the second time in his long career that Will Oldham worked with a producer.
Since the early nineties, Oldham has been building a body of work fully on his own terms. He used to make music under names like Palace Brothers, Palace Music and Palace Songs. He also collaborated in the past with artists like Bryce Dessner and Bill Callahan.
