It is no longer a secret that there are tons of intriguing metal acts in Belgium. BRIQUEVILLE is one of them: an instrumental post and sludge metal band from Steendorp, Temse. On their latest album “IIII”, they once again show that there can be beauty in raw, ruthless music.
It is the fourth album the band released, once again through quality label Pelagic Records. The dissonant and desolate sounding acts, as they refer to the songs themselves, are atmospheric and threatening at the same time. They are also dynamic and drenched in drones, dark electronics and unorthodox Mediterranean influences.
The darkness the masked members of BRIQUEVILLE create is not just foreboding; there is a level of solace and hope in it as well. On stage, the band is fully clothed in anonymous black with sinister, golden plague masks to increase the mystique. Their performance at Soulcrusher 2021 is still fresh in our memories and makes us look forward to their first headlining club show in Merleyn. For fans of Amenra and Cult of Luna, but also of Russian Circles.
