If you believe doom metal has reached its limits, then you haven’t heard Faetooth. These three musicians from Los Angeles weave a web of sound they call “fairy doom”: heavy riffs and sludgy rhythms that clash with ethereal vocals and dreamy melancholy.
Faetooth combines the intensity of doom and sludge with the atmosphere of shoegaze and black metal, which makes every song sound like a dark fairy-tale that slowly sucks you in with an oppressive force. Their songs keep a fine line between fragile and devastating, between crystal-clear melodies and suffocating distortion.
Since the band was founded in 2019, the trio have expanded upon a universe of their own, using visual and textual themes that take inspiration from nature, self-reflection and mythical symbolism. Their latest album “Labyrinthine” from 2025 is praised for its intensity and emotional depth, with raw screams, slowly encroaching riffs, and an oppressive atmosphere that hits even harder live on stage. It feels like an evolution: softer and more personal, yet still in touch with the original Faetooth magic.
