American-Mexican singer-songwriter David Ramirez has been in a very interesting flow creatively. He creates an engaging mix of (alt)country, americana, folk and blues, with his most recent album “Backslider” (2021) even featuring gospel influences very prominently. Ramirez doesn’t require any bells and whistles beyond that, having the solid vocal stylistics reminiscent of Ryan Adams.
After three prior album releases, in 2017 he released “We’re Not Going Anywhere”, and an album that had him hire a producer for the very first time in his life. The album is much richer in sound as a result of that. Ramirez has the song-writing skills that already put him on par with artists like Jason Isbell and John Fullbright.
