Elder

The American quartet goes beyond the paths well-traveled. Or, to take another perspective, Elder is simply one of the best among their peers. You can hear this as well on their latest album, “Innate Passage”. The extended compositions develop into journeys that touch upon numerous different styles: everything from seventies rock to now, with a strong preference for the pure grandeur of the “gate-fold record era”. The album was at the top of numerous year lists and for good reason. We have no doubt that this is going to be yet another terrific performance, just like their show at Sonic Whip 2022 was.

Slomosa describes themselves as a “desert rock band from a cold nation”, which is an apt description. It’s great to discover a new band that keeps the flame alive of stoner rock. The Norwegian band has refined their art almost to nostalgic perfection, with each moment evoking the sound of the desert. Their sound is deep and energetic, with the ragged punch of guitars and bass enhancing the iconic style with dedication.
