Doesn’t the name Fleshwater sound familiar? Check them out on your favourite streaming service, as this American band manages to blend grunge and shoegaze in a unique and catchy way.
Fleshwater was founded in 2017 by singer/guitarist Anthony DiDio, drummer Matt Wood and bassist Jeremy Martin, also three-quarters of metalcore/nu-metal band Vein.fm. With Marisa Shirar (also known as Mirsy) as their figurehead, they offer a mesmerizing adaptation of shoegaze and soft grunge, or ‘nu gaze’ if you will. Their debut record “We’re Not Here to Be Loved” did very well on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. This summer, it is Europe’s turn to fall for their charms during festival season, which includes Rock Am Ring, Graspop, Outbreak Fest and Copenhell. The band turned out to have some room in their schedule on 17 June, so they will come to Nijmegen that day for one of their rare club shows!
