Five-piece band Wednesday makes alternative rock that incorporates elements from 90s rock, shoegaze and Southern rock. The band is fronted by generational songwriter Karly Hartzman.
With the release of their most recent album “Bleeds” (2025), the band follows up on their much-praised breakthrough album “Rat Saw God” (2023). The first single was inspired on a story of a drowning in West Virginia, containing material from a collection of poetry of a friend of Karly Hartzman. It is an example of how literature, memories and music all blend together in Wednesday’s overall sound.
On their latest album, Wednesday wonders what the point of life would be if you are not trying to reflect on both the humour and the horror of everyday life. Along with this question, you can hear a mesmerizing portion of Southern rock with a message on the album, as well as curiosity, belief and dedication.
Wednesday is recommended to fans of MJ Lenderman, Geese, Blondshell, Waxahatchee and Hotline TNT.
