Glimmer from New York uses heavy, fuzz-driven guitars and dreamy reverb to create their own sound. It’s one that includes clear hooks and takes its cues from the nineties, the era of grunge, shoegaze and college rock.
Debut single ‘Self Destroyed’ was a direct hit because of the dynamic loud-quiet structure and the intensity, which immediately set them apart within the vibrant New York scene. The authentic, raw sound and nostalgic influences are sometimes reminiscent of acts like Dinosaur Jr, Pavement, Pixies, Beck and Sonic Youth, as well as later acts like Hum, Failure, Narrow Head and Superheaven. So fans of these bands should take note, as this is a terrific live band to boot.
