Noise and psychedelia rock pioneers and adventurers Gnod and White Hills have joined forces once again for a third chapter of their Dropout Studio sessions. This is a masterful collaboration into which both acts show pour their heart and soul.
That there’s chemistry between Gnod from Manchester and the New York band White Hills, has been clear for a while. The first two albums under the names Drop Out I & II are fantastic explorations of kraut and space rock and are regarded as masterpieces within the genre. Drop Out III adds another chapter to this fruitful collaboration. This is an entirely new iteration of the collaboration between the two acts; a “Director’s Cut”, so to speak. This double album is full of new sounds that have been recorded in the Dropout Studios in Camberwell. It contains a plethora of new arrangements, mixes and a diverse array of instruments. The muggy drones and kraut rock are reminiscent of the works of pioneers like NEU!, Faust, Can, White Noise, Amon Düül, Silver Apples and Cluster. All of these acts used their never-ending experimental drive to push psychedelic music to what it is now. And the same goes for Gnod and White Hills, who always look towards the future, exploring and pushing boundaries. This is the first time both acts are in Doornroosje together, so we can’t wait to experience this live on stage.
