
Gyða Valtýsdóttir is an Icelandic singer and multi-instrumentalist, and winner of the Nordic Council Music Prize 2019 which had the jury praising her unique sound.
Gyða was the co-founder and member of group Múm and has also released three solo albums so far: “Epicycle”, “Evolution” and “Epicycle II”. She has also composed music for films, installations and dance and worked together with numerous musicians like Dustin O’Halloran, Jonsí, Damien Rice, Colin Stetson and Kronos Quartet.
Gyða Valtýsdóttir will be accompanied by an all-star band that consists of Bert Cools (guitar, synths), Úlfur Hansson (bass, synths), Indrė Jurgelevičiūtė (vocals, Kanklės, flute) and Julian Sartorius (drums).
Her fourth album “Ox” features gorgeous cello sounds, angel-like vocals, rich arrangements and soundscapes. She’ll be on the European mainland for a couple of shows and we are very proud to welcome her to Nijmegen.
