English musician, writer and spoken word artist Kae Tempest mixes music like a modern-day Shakespeare with electronic influences. You can compare him with post punk pioneer Anne Clark, although Kae Tempest also takes inspiration from hip hop, grime and dub.
In 2025, Kae Tempest’s latest album “Self Titled” came out, the most intimate and candid project of him to date. For the very first time, he collaborated with a producer for the entire album, none other than Grammy-winning producer Fraser T. Smith. This collaboration opened up new, creative paths. Kae was directly part of the producer process and wrote lyrics from a first-person perspective.
The result is an album that reconnects Kae with his hip hop roots, while it also integrates subtle elements from contemporary pop. It is a daring listening experience from beginning to end.
