Canadian actor Kiefer Sutherland became famous through roles in films like “Stand by Me”, “The Lost Boys”, “Young Guns”, “Flatliners”, “A Few Good Men”, “A Time to Kill”, “Dark City” and “Melancholia”. He is likely best known however as Jack Bauer in the hit series “24”.
In between his acting gigs, Kiefer is creating new music, playing shows with his live band, or working on his label Ironworks with which he releases music from acts like Ron Sexsmith, Roco de Luca and Honeyhoney. Back in the nineties, he was also a successful rodeo rider and an ice hockey player.
Kiefer excels at making country, rock and Americana songs. Just listen to his debut album “Down in a Hole” that came out in 2016. The album includes tearjerker ‘Not Enough Whiskey’, a gospel-inspired ode to alcohol called ‘Can’t Stay Away’, and other great tracks like Truth in Your Eyes and Shirley Jean.
Musically, his influences are worn on his sleeve. Piano, organ, guitars and tight drums dictate the heavy, groovy sound.
His deep and weathered voice sound as if formed by whisky and nicotine. After his debut, two more studio albums followed and another one is on the way. Tonight, Kiefer Sutherland will perform with his live band. Next to his own repertoire, they sometimes do odes to legends like Merle Haggard, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan during the show.
