Marley Munroe, better known as Lady Blackbird, is a US-born jazz and soul singer-songwriter. Each of her songs ooze with freedom. Using her impressive voice, she can switch from pure euphoria to heart-wrenching grief from one moment to the next.
Lady Blackbird released “Black Acid Soul” in 2021 an album that took the jazz and soul world by storm. Right from the first track, it is made very clear that this is an artist who managed to reinvent herself in a glorious manner. Comparisons to Billie Holiday, Etta James and especially Nina Simone are made in almost every review of the album. These are big boots to fill, but Lady Blackbird puts so much feeling, power and confidence in her music that the comparisons are justified.
