Pulse is a new series of concerts at the cutting edge of classical and pop, presented by Doornroosje and De Vereeniging. In this first edition, LudoWic will perform in the Kleine Zaal of De Vereeniging.
Matheus Lodewijk, better known as LudoWic, is a musician, composer and producer. As an artist of electro-neo-classical music, he blends nostalgic and futuristic sounds into a new whole. He has released a number of albums so far, most of which were created using old, analogue equipment and synthesizers. For example, on his album “SUPER8 MEMORY” from 2024, the Trautonium is front and centre. This instrument, invented around 1929, is one of the first synthesizers that can be played through a string. This offers the musician a means of physical contact with the sound, resulting in an expressive playing style. LudoWic is one of only two known active and skilled players of the instrument.
His latest album, “Horizon Fall” (2025), is the successor to “SUPER8 MEMORY”. This new record has a more layered sound than its predecessor; the music is more cinematic as well. Even more ‘forgotten’ synthesizers are added into the mix, including an organ and the ondes-Martnot. Nostalgia and innovation go hand in hand and the sounds of the past and future form a new whole. Thematically, the album explores the sense of falling without hitting the ground. It’s as if you’re in the vacuum of space, endlessly drifting in nothingness.
LudoWic previously played at renowned festivals and stages like the Artonov festival, ADE and Het Concertgebouw.
