During the busiest week of the year in Nijmegen, SERA is coming to De Stevenskerk with an intimate performance. In this special setting, she is taking her music much closer to the audience, adding personal stories and playing beautiful semi-acoustic versions of her songs.
Just imagine: you’re a completely unknown singer with ambitions in the field of music and in 2020, you decide to put a number of cover songs on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram Live, sung and recorded in the safe surroundings of your car. And during one of those live sessions, your big idol offers to sing along. It happened to 30-year-old SERA from Sliedrecht. With her versions of Dua Lipa’s “IDGAF” and Meghan Trainor’s “NO”, she quickly went viral with hundreds of thousands of views and tons of new followers. One of those followers was Justin Bieber, who during one of SERA’s performances of one of his own songs on Instagram Live, decided to sing along. This gave SERA’s musical career a mega boost.
Strengthened by all of the support, SERA decided to turn singing into a living. She came into contact with producer and songwriter Bas van Daalen (Major Lazer, David Guetta, J Balvin, among others), with whom she went into the studio to write songs of her own. She also hired a manager and cut a deal with label Universal Music.
In recent years, she went out on multiple successful club tours in the Netherlands, playing large festivals like Pinkpop, Concert@Sea, Dauwpop, Paaspop and Zwarte Cross. This is a must-see live show.
