Thunder Perfect Mind is a crossover project that blends contemporary and traditional music from Greece, Turkey and Andalusia. The concert is part of Pulse, a concert series set up by De Vereeniging and Doornroosje.
Inspiration behind Thunder Perfect Mind is a mysterious gnostic poem that was discovered in the Nag Hammadi library in Egypt in 1945, one that was written 2000 years ago from the perspective of a God-like female figure: wild, elusive and deeply evocative.
Cellist Maya Fridman joins forces with musicians Efrén López, Soheil Shayesteh, Ruven Ruppik, Kristia Michael and Flamenco dancer Conchita Boon. Together, the create a soundscape that is both old and new: a rich tapestry of flamenco, Byzantine singing, Middle-Eastern styles, contemporary composition and flamenco dance.
