Meschiya Lake
American artist Meschiya Lake is coming to Europe for a couple of shows, including one in Nijmegen. For this performance in Merleyn, the striking singer brings along her guitarist Russell Welch, a fixture and prominent member of her backing band The Little Big Horns.
Meschiya Lake is a welcome presence on stages. She has played shows in Nijmegen before, and quite successful ones at that. The American singer has her own take on the “roaring twenties” and takes you back to the original New Orleans Jazz days. With her powerful voice she single-handedly breathed new life in the Lindy hop dance scene, which is a mix of jazz dance, tap dancing and the Charleston.
Meschiya Lake stands for a swinging’ evening full of ragtime jazz, blues and Dixieland, the kind that used to be played in the underground jazz clubs in the thirties of the previous century.
