In the Fall of 2022, Michael Gira will go on tour for the first time in four years under his own name, accompanied by his friend and Swans member Kristof Hahn. On 18 November 2022 they will play their only Dutch show in the Stevenskerk.
Michael Gira is best known as the front man, founder and leader of the avant-garde rock band Swans. Next to his main band he has always made time to record and play live under his own name as well. He is also the founder of Young Gods, a record label that releases music by acts like Devendra Banhart, Akron/Family, and The Angels of Light. Gira’s skills also include authorship, as his writings are sublime and intense. He presents a new book this year called “The Knot: Complete Words for Music Collected Stories and Journals”.
Kristof Hahn will open the evening with his own works. The German musician has been in Swans since 1992 and is a highly skilled lap steel guitar player. Hahn will focus on material from his new album “Six Pieces”.
