Mildlife
Australian indie jazz rock quartet Mildlife sound as if they time travelled to this era from the seventies, creating a lush mix of jazz fusion, psychedelia, funk and disco. Ever since they first came to the fore, Mildlife’s melodious mix of genres quickly turned into a word-of-mouth sensation.
By the end of their breakthrough year, 2018, their debut album “Phase” had been nominated for Best Album at the Worldwide FM Awards and they had won the ‘Best Electronic Act’ award at the Music Victoria Awards in Melbourne. In 2020 the follow-up “Automatic” came out. The successor is more dancefloor-friendly and structured than the debut, has lots of tight arrangements and sometimes even resembles the works of Kraftwerk, only in a 21st century kind of way.
Due to a lack of live shows, early 2021 the Australians travelled by boat to a desolate 19th century island fort to perform in front of a camera and some birds passing by. The result is “Live From South Channel”. Mildlife is a terrific live act, so expect a tight show that will be full of groovy improvisations.
