Oh Hiroshima + Törzs
Both Swedish band Oh Hiroshima and Hungarian TÖRZS offer gorgeous and diverse post-rock. On Tuesday 15 April, Merleyn will welcome the both of them on stage.
Oh Hiroshima consists of Swedish brothers Jakob Hemström (guitar/vocals) and Oskar Nilsson (drums). The band was founded as a DIY post-rock project in Kristinehamn and has grown over the years as a well-respected studio and live project within the international post-rock scene. With four diverse albums to their name, that contain elements from shoegaze, electronics, post-rock and indie rock, Oh Hiroshima is about to release a new album called “All Things Shining” that’s going to be a significant evolution in the writing and creation process of this band. It is their most ambitious project to date and brings an explosion of ideas and emotions to the fore, while still exploring new, unexplored sounds. Fans of bands like The Ocean, Cult of Luna and Russian Circles are bound to like this as well.
The Eastern European newcomers TÖRZS is the most prominent instrumental post-rock band in Hungary at the moment. Their latest album “Tükör” was recorded in a cave system 500 meters below ground level, a location that’s listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The album was released by the American label A Thousand Arms and German label Golden Antenna Records.
