Parker Millsap
We are going to kick off 2025 in Merleyn with an appealing slice of country/blues of Parker Millsap, whose raw vocals are somewhat reminiscent of those of Bruce Springsteen. His fiery combination of country and blues are accompanied by lyrics about truck driving pastors, religion-fanatic serial killers and people who try to find happiness through lottery tickets.
American music blogs cannot get enough of him. Live on stage, Millsap impresses a lot as well as support to acts like Jason Isbell, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Lake Street Dive, Lucinda Williams, Shovels & Rope and Old Crow Medicine Show. The singer stays modest throughout it all though: “I just want to pay the bills and feed my dog, and maybe buy a new guitar every now and then. That’s all I need. I don’t want to be Elvis Presley, but I wouldn’t complain if a million girls screamed for me, either. Just don’t tell my girlfriend that.”
