There is no room for nuance and subtlety with Part Chimp: both their records and shows are LOUD. This is deafening, devastating noise with thick layers of distortion.
Take the best elements of Melvins, Jesus Lizard and Lightning Bolt and you’ll have a pretty good idea of these Brits’ music pedigrees. For their latest record “Drool” they attempted to record the raw energy of the band in its purest form, and the absolutely succeeded in doing so. It sounds and feels like an oppressive force crushing you down, but in a good and energetic manner. This is something only Part Chimp is able to accomplish. Highly recommended!
There have been so many great bands in the past few decades in the Southeast of Belgian Limburg that you might suspect there’s something special in their drinking water. Take 30,000 Monkies for example, or “3((0)),((0))((0))((0)) M((O))NKIES” as it’s referred to officially. It’s a demented collective of noise enthusiasts taking their cues from Monty Python’s Flying Circus; they’re loud, crazy and absurd. We’ve seen the band in action before at Soulcrusher 2019, so we already know that this is going to be an amazing double-bill with Part Chimp.
