Perturbator, the French king of dark synthwave, is coming to Nijmegen! The genre pioneer is capable of turning any venue and festival upside down with his heavy retro 80s sound, which also incorporates elements from post-punk, heavy techno rhythms and cool guitar riffs.
James Kent, aka Perturbator, is the mastermind behind the retro-inspired, dark electronic music that has undergone a revival in the past decade with acts like Carpenter Brut and GOST. The John Carpenter-like eighties synth sound, along with its influences from post-punk and coldwave, attract a very diverse crowd. Fans of Daft Punk, Justice and Kavinsky will find much to love here, but so will adventurous metalheads. Live shows are a real experience, with awe-inspiring visuals and pulsating beats.
Iceland trio Kælan Mikla offers avant-garde that is poetically combined with meandering, dreamy darkwave. Imposingly heavy bass lines, mesmerizing drums and minimalist synths are provided with ominous monologues in their mother tongue.
GOST is a familiar sight in Nijmegen. On the most recent edition of Soulcrusher, GOST managed to bring the house down with his dark beats. The darkwave of the Texan multi-instrumentalist and producer James Lollar is heavier and more sinister than those of his peers. This is a digital nightmare with intriguing visuals.
