Pure Adult + Cassels
Pure Adult from Brooklyn are known for their raw, dissonant punk and noise sound, as well as for their wild live shows. They are out on tour now with the overwhelming British noisy math punkers of Cassels.
Jeremy Snyder is the man behind the sound of IDLES, Fontaines D.C., A Place to Bury Strangers, Mdou Moctars and many more. His experience as a sound engineer finds a creative home in his own project Pure Adult, along with Bianca Cooper. She is the voice and the creative heart of the band. Her background in performance art and theatre adds a deeply expressive, emotional layer to the raw avant-garde songs that put cynicism and realism front and centre. Pure Adult is a highly recommended act to experience live.
London duo Cassels consists of brothers Jim and Loz Beck. They have referred to their own project as music that’s perfect of misanthropes and other pessimists. While that doesn’t exactly sound very cheerful, their songs aren’t all in pitch black. Some of them can even be called up-beat. Their sound varies from post punk to noise with elements taken from math rock. The ‘breezy’, edgy, and sometimes sarcastic lyrics of Jim, and the complex, rhythmic drum patterns of Loz take centre stage. Just like Pure Adult, Cassels is tailor-made for the live stage.
