RHEA
Rhea (Ancient Greek: ῾ΡÎα; Ionic: ῾Ρείη) is a figure from Greek mythology. She was one of the titans and lived near the mountain Ida on Crete. Her brother Kronos married her and birthed the Olympians Hestia, Hera, Poseidon, Hades and Zeus. This concludes our crash course in Greek mythology. As we’re not talking about those incestuous Greeks, but about one of the best Belgian rock bands of the moment: RHEA from Ghent. They’re also God-like, but much cooler than that entire Olympian family put together. RHEA offers hard-hitting, yet effortlessly played guitar riffs and complex yet loud songs. Equally important: they are able to translate their skills to a loud and intense live show. They recorded their debut “Lust for Blood” (2020) With Alex Newport (At The Drive In, Bloc Party, The Mars Volta), which is an exhilarating album that follows in the slipstream of bands like Royal Blood, Reignwolf, cleopatrick and Wolfmother. In Belgium they’ve already broken through and now the Netherlands is next.

Want we hebben het hier natuurlijk niet over die incestueuze Grieken, maar over de één van de beste Belgische rock bands van het moment: het Gentse RHEA. Ook goddelijk, maar dan oneindig veel cooler dan die hele Olympische familie bij elkaar. Want RHEA brengt harde maar soepele gitaarriffs en ingewikkelde maar luide nummers. En minstens zo belangrijk: ze weten hun vakmanschap te vertalen naar keiharde en intense liveshows.
