Jonathan Linaberry hails from the hardcore and punk scene, but is possessed by the blues. Under his alter ego The Bones of J.R. Jones, he released albums which are deeply rooted in blues at the core, although he does add elements from gospel and folk as well.
On his album “Slow Lightning”, he manages to set a mood that feels authentic, raw, cinematic and mesmerizing. He refers to his sound as “roots noir & Southern Gothic”, finding inspiration in the likes of Bon Iver, Bruce Springsteen and J.J. Cale, but also James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem.
This New York one-mand band has also toured with The Wallflowers and The Devil Makes Three. Highly recommended to fans of the aforementioned acts, but also fans of Daniel Norgren, Parker Millsap, Ben Caplan and The White Buffalo have something to look forward to.
